Overview
IntroductionThe EDGAR consortium of JRC and PBL is working on the further development of EDGAR, both updates for more recent years and addition of new compounds such as aerosols, in collaboration with the ACCENT and GEIA research groups, e.g. for air pollutants with IIASA and for black carbon with the group of Tami Bond. In order to produce more recent updates more regularly, the group has started a new so-called Fast Track action to estimate recent global emissions at country and grid level based on readily available data.
We welcome the support and cooperation of other research groups to further expand the EDGAR datasets and to improve their quality by providing on-site access to the EDGAR system to include other datasets of emission factors and other grid maps, globally or regionally, and to assess the results. EDGAR 32FT2000
data, which started in July 2005, contains emissions for 2000 on grid and per country for the direct greenhouse gases and air pollutants covered by EDGAR 3.2. These are based on the earlier estimates for 1995 and prepared by trend analyses at country level for each standard source category of EDGAR 3.2. The dataset is provided with
technical documentation
on the procedures used to estimate the 2000 emissions.
Please check out the What's New page regularly to see how the release progresses. EDGAR 3.2The version 3.2 datasets were released in 2001 and comprises emissions by region/source in 1990-1995 for the direct greenhouse gases CO2, CH4, N2O and F-gases HFCs, PFCs and SF6 and for the ozone and aerosol precursors CO, NOx, NMVOC and SO2. For the direct greenhouse gases also emission trends for 1970-1995 are available per source category both per country/region and on grid. For all compounds, except for NH3, estimates of 1990 and 1995 emissions per country are now available. EDGAR-HYDE 1.3: HISTORICAL ANTHROPOGENIC EMISSIONS 1890-1990This dataset has been described in Van Aardenne et al. (2001) and comprised anthropogenic emissions, both on 1x1 degree grid and for each of the 13 EDGAR regions, for time steps of 10 years. EDGAR 20 Model DescriptionEDGAR 2.0 provided global annual emissions for 1990 of greenhouse gases CO2, CH4 and N2O and precursor gases CO, NOx, NMVOC and SO2, both per region and on a 1x1 degree grid. Similar inventories were compiled for a number of CFCs, halons and methyl bromide and methyl chloroform. RemarkNB The Intro is new; the FT 2000 and 3.2 par. are (rewritten) texts, based on the other text proposed earlier and on the old website text, respectively. |
