Production of cement

A first order estimate of regional cement production is calculated with data from Marland et al. (1998). They provid carbon dioxide emissions from cement production on a country basis. The earliest data in that estimate are stemming from 1928. The conversion factor used to calculate cement production from emissions is: one million ton C emission from cement production/0.136 = 1000 metric tons of produced cement (Marland et al, 1994).
