Regions
IMAGE uses 24 regions plus Greenland and Antartica, except for the models in the socio economic system, i.e TIMER, FAIR and PHOENIX. For modelling reasons, these models use the extended version consisting of 26 regions.

The extended version differs from the 24 Region version in regard to two regions:
- Southern Africa (region 10) is splitted into South Africa and Rest of Southern Africa ( region 10 and 26 respectively in the extended version )
- South Asia (region 18) is splitted into India and Rest of South Asia ( region 18 and 25 respectively in the extended version)
