Temporal variation of anthropogenic sources
|
For test-run purposes with several climate models a new set of temporal factors was constructed. The original set was made by Veldt (for LOTOS, a European climate model) and used winter/summer, weekday/weekend and night/day variation the new one uses monthly, daily and hourly factors. Most new profiles show a sinusoidal curve (contrary to the step functions of Veldt). More information to extrapolate to other world regions and references for profile components:
Note/disclaimer by PBLThis set is primarily based on (sometimes selected) Western European data. Therefore the representativity and for European countries and even more so for other world regions is highly uncertain. This provisional dataset is primarily meant for sensitivity assessement in air pollution and climate models, awaiting a more comprensive compilation of the relative importance for modelers. Large-scale biomass burningPlease note that for seasonality of large-scale biomass burning, the EDGAR 3.2 dataset and the Fast Track emissions for 2000 provide actual monthly fractions per gridcel based on satellite data. See the main documentation page for EDGAR 3.2 and for EDGAR 32FT2000, respectively. |
